About MIKE REARDON the Photographer
Born and raised in Southern California, Mike began his love of nature as a young boy residing in Manhattan Beach first by surfing then sailing and ocean racing. Keenly interested in how nature worked, he began his love affair with photography at a very young age where the beauty of the land and ocean stirred his soul.
Later, Mike became a firefighter in Southern California and proudly served for 32 years. In 2007, following retirement, he seriously began to delve into the world of photography. Continuing to be fascinated with the raw beauty of California, he began to capture that beauty at the beach—from surfing to magical sunsets. He expanded his photography to include subjects that exist ‘right under our noses’, from glistening water beads on a head of purple cabbage to shooting an agave plant that becomes three dimensional by photographically penetrating the layers of the plant. Both of these photos awarded him awards in several venues. Travel and music are two other passions that he enjoys. Being an avid international traveler, his photographer’s eye captured many unique images across the Globe. And as a music lover he has been hired to photograph concerts where he has been able to reveal the passion and energy of the musicians.
Mike has won several awards including Best of Show from the Fallbrook Art Association, and numerous awards from the Fallbrook Camera Club. He was twice awarded the Best Composition award & once the Image of the Year award by the Camera Club. He has had work shown in numerous shows in the San Diego area including the San Diego County Fair where he has won a 2nd Place and several Honorable Mentions. He continues to serve as President of the Fallbrook Camera Club.
